Depart from Medowmill
16 Youth Club members, 9 volunteers, 5 youth workers and Eddie our Bus driver all
said goodbye to our parents and set off on our 3 hour journey to Badaguish. After
a quick stop at Bankfoot services, we arrived in good time to explore our three log
cabins at Badaguish before heading over to Sandy’s Bothy for our dinner. With 10
people in each cabin there was a rush to get the best beds!
Dinner at Sandy’s Bothy, Badaguish
After a short walk over from our cabin’s we sat down at our massive table and tucked into a tasty dinner of vegetable soup, fish
and chips, lasagne or chicken korma. The travelling must have been hard going as almost all the plates were empty before too
After our big dinner we threw on our waterproofs and set off to explore the woodlands
around our cabins. Thankfully the rain stopped long enough for us to get some fresh air,
and stretch out legs after a long day’s travelling.
16 very tired youth club members then headed off to bed, to catch some sleep before
tomorrow’s outdoor activities.
Saturday 19th May 2012
After a good night sleep and full cooked breakfast everyone was ready and raring to go at 10.30am for our day of outdoor
activities. We split into two groups to meet Ian and Tracey from Active Spirit, who were leading the day’s activities.
Team Games at the Hayfield
Ian met us at the hayfield and led us through some fun team games.
We learned to work as a team to build a bridge to cross a river, saved a
nuclear battery from falling in the water and built a colourful robot!
The volunteers showed their competitive side during a game
of tug of war but the girl’s team soon put them to shame!
Both teams met back at the lodges to make and enjoy a
warm lunch of soup and sandwiches.
Filled up and dried off we were ready for the afternoon’s activities.
Canoeing at Loch Morlich
With some snow on the hills we pulled on our life jackets and braved the cold waters.
Martin and Tony led us around the lake, with all
6 canoeing managing to stay upright!
Well done to all our rowers!
BBQ & Saturday night Disco
After a fun filled day we were all hungry and ready for our BBQ dinner. Eddie cooked our meal
as we played some games and music beside our cabins.
The sun came out and warmed us up, as we dined al freshco in the Aviemore air.
The scooters came in handy for getting to and from the three cabins.
Sunday 20th May 2012
After packing our bags and cleaning the log cabins we boarded the buses and headed to the Fun House in Colyumbridge.
We enjoyed playing on the arcades.
Playing Crazy Golf
The fun house gave us a buffet lunch of pizza and pasta
before we headed back home to East Lothian.

We sailed back into the bay and
back on to Eddie’s warm bus
to heat up and dry off.
Kyle and Daniel led the Disco dancing, putting the volunteers to shame! Some members opted for the quieter choice playing board games, and football outside.
After a busy day and a supper snack, everyone headed to bed for a good night’s sleep.
